DELHI, CA – On Friday, March 8, 2019, Dezandra Bert will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.
Bert will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Delhi Postmaster at a 12:00 p.m. ceremony at the Delhi Post Office, 16096 Locust St. Post Office Operations Manager Sharla Staton will administer the official oath of office.
Bert began her U.S. Postal Service career in 2003 as a mail handler in Oakland, CA. In 2006, she became a sales associate in Modesto, CA. In 2012, she wanted to learn the letter carrier craft, so she carried mail in Turlock and was eventually promoted to customer services supervisor in 2015.
“I am extremely proud to be chosen as the new Postmaster for Delhi,” said Bert. “I consider myself a team leader and want to serve this great community to the best of my ability while leading by example.”
“As Postmaster, I will strive to make our post office the heart of the city through accurate and efficient delivery coupled with knowledgeable and friendly customer service,” she added.
Bert is married to her husband, Tyrone, and they have five children: Kenneth, Denzel, Jaquille, Malia and Brianna. They also have 14 grandchildren. Bert enjoys spending time with her family and currently resides in Riverbank, CA.
As Delhi Postmaster, Bert will oversee approximately 3,300 rural daily mail deliveries, with more than 6,800 daily pieces of mail volume. In addition, Delhi services more than 1,100 Post Office Boxes. Bert will manage 12 employees. She also oversees the operations of the Ballico Post Office.
