Richard Sigman to be sworn in as Simi Valley Postmaster

SIMI VALLEY, CA – On Thursday, June 20, 2019, Richard Sigman will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Sigman will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Simi Valley Postmaster at an 11:00 a.m. ceremony at the Simi Valley Post Office, 225 Simi Village Drive, Simi Valley, CA 93065. Post Office Operations Manager Joe Yuson will administer the official oath of office.

Sigman began his postal career in 1988 as a part-time flexible carrier in Agoura Hills, CA. In 1994, he began supervising clerks and carriers while working in Thousand Oaks, CA. In addition, he has served as postmaster in a variety of other cities.

“I feel honored to be able to represent the Postal Service in this way,” Sigman said. “I will work with conviction to build a strong relationship of confidence and trust for the community of Simi Valley by providing stellar customer service by means of my expertly-trained employees.”

Sigman enjoys outdoor activities and volunteers at his church. He is a hands-on Postmaster that likes to mentor his staff.

As Simi Valley Postmaster, Sigman oversees 67 city and rural routes which average over 46,000 city and rural daily mail deliveries. In addition, Simi Valley services over 2,000 Post Office Boxes daily. Sigman manages 142 employees.

The Postal Service does not receive tax dollars to fund its operations and facilities.
