LOS ANGELES — On March 6, 2018, the United States Postal Service held a public meeting to discuss the possible relocation of the Los Angeles Airport Finance Station, located at 9029 Airport Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90009. After having carefully considered all of the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as in appeals and comments received after the public meeting, the United States Postal Service has decided to proceed with the proposal. The L.A. Airport Finance Station will be relocated to a property located at 8821 Aviation Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90301. The public will be notified once a move date has been determined.
The Postal Service’s lease at 9029 Airport Blvd., expired. The Postal Service’s current landlord, the airport, will not renew its lease to allow for a major redevelopment project. This has forced the Postal Service to seek a new facility. During the public comment period and at the public meeting there appeared to be a consensus that it was important to maintain a presence near the Los Angeles International Airport.
When the new facility opens at 8821 Aviation Blvd., the Postal Service anticipates providing the same services as are provided to our customers at the current location. Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the existing Post Office until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office, so absent unforeseen circumstances, there will be no interruption of service.
While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the community, the Postal Service properly considered community input, and this decision is consistent with the Postal Service objectives.
The Postal Service does not receive tax dollars for operating expenses; it relies entirely on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
