PAICINES, CA — On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, Tammy Freitas will follow a proud postal tradition. Freitas will raise her right hand to take the official Oath of Office as the new Postmaster of Paicines at an 11:00 a.m. ceremony held in historic San Juan Bautista at 34 Muckelemi St., San Juan Bautista, CA 95045. Manager of Post Office Operations Rick Keppeler will administer the official oath of office.
Freitas has almost two decades of experience, primarily at the Hollister Post Office. She has worn many hats during her career as a carrier, a supervisor and as acting Postmaster in Tres Pinos.
During her tenure in Hollister, she stated that her customers became more than customers, in many ways they were like family and several lasting friendships formed during her career. While she views leaving the Post Office that she spent so many years in as a big change, Freitas is overjoyed with her new role as Postmaster.
“I love the small town community and I’m thrilled to be Postmaster of Paicines,” said Freitas. “As Postmaster, I want to provide quality service and support the community to the best of my ability.”
As a Hollister native and now Tres Pinos resident, the community she serves is more than her own, as Freitas has raised her two sons, Justin, 32, and Joshua, 29, in the same community.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, including her daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, mother, sister and nephew. Freitas also enjoys gardening, travelling and cooking.
As Postmaster of Paicines, which has a population of over 660 residents, Freitas manages one employee and oversees the daily delivery of over 1,100 pieces of mail and packages to 156 Post Office Boxes.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
