TURLOCK, CA – On Friday, November 15, 2019, LaTanya Degraffenreed will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.
Degraffenreed will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Turlock Postmaster at a 12:00 noon ceremony at Turlock Post Office, 555 E. Main St., Turlock, CA 95380. Manager of Post Office Operations Neil Gonzalez will administer the official oath of office.
Degraffenreed began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1999 as a supervisor in San Francisco. In 2000, she transferred to Mountain View, CA. In 2008, she was promoted to manager, customer services in San Francisco. In 2014, she became Postmaster in Redwood City, CA. She has also held Postmaster positions in Millbrae and Sonora, CA.
“I am extremely humbled and honored to be Postmaster of Turlock,” Degraffenreed said. “It means a lot that I hold a guarded position that is a pillar of high standards in the community. I aim to serve the Turlock community by providing them with stellar customer service by means of my expertly trained team of dedicated employees.”
Degraffenreed has two children, Ashley, 20 and Alfredo Jr., 17. Degraffenreed enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, dancing and traveling. She is involved with the Chamber of Commerce and volunteers at Glide Memorial in San Francisco and is a member of Victory In Praise Church in Modesto, CA.
As Turlock Postmaster, Degraffenreed oversees 30,000 daily rural and city mail deliveries with more than 70,000 pieces of daily mail volume. In addition, Turlock services over 2,000 daily Post Office Box deliveries. Degraffenreed manages 80 employees and serves a population of more than 74,000.
