Letters to Santa Goes Digital to Reach More Children

From comfort of home, people can make wishes come true for every child

SAN FRANCISCO — People are familiar with the legacy program where in years past they could come to the Post Office at 1300 Evans Street in San Francisco and search through letters in-person. And as recent as yesterday the legacy program was about to kick off; however, because digital allows Santa to go through many more letters, with the help of the Post Office, people no longer need to trek down to the Post Office to go through the letters in-person.

A new web address for letter adoption, USPSOperationSanta.com, makes it so much easier for people still wanting to be that Secret Santa. Just some simple steps to follow to make a child’s wishes come true. Search the filter for the state you want; Adopt the letter(s) online; Go to a Post Office that offers “Label Broker” as an on-site service to mail the gift.

Adopters can find a qualifying Label Broker™ Post Office from the 19,000 listed by visiting the Post Office™ Locator usps.com/locator.

Under the old legacy program, people had to come to the Post Office and physically sort through the letters during the busiest time of time of the year. As a result, many children’s letters went un-adopted. However, with the program now available on a website, there will virtually be no child left behind because volunteers don’t have to leave the comfort of home to help a child and/or family.

The letters viewed on line will still carry the heartfelt message and drawings of the child, and the Post Office, as it has done for 107 years, will continue to be the broker between child and Secret Santa.

Deadline: All adopters must have their gifts mailed no later than December 20, 2019.

The Spirit of Christmas hasn’t changed. Only the portal to reach more children has.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
