Where:
Upland Post Office
333 E. Arrow Hwy
Upland, CA 91786
Background:
Carrier Danny Marcrum was delivering mail when he heard sounds. At first, he thought it sounded like a cat moaning. But the sound persisted and he felt compelled to check out the sound and approached a garage across the street.
Marcrum followed the sound and saw an elderly patron laying next to the sidewalk where she had fallen.
Marcrum, a former Combat Lifesaver in the Army who was medically trained, helped and provided first aid assistance to the customer. He ensured that she called her daughter for further assistance.
The Postmaster received a thank you from the customer for Marcrum for rescuing her after her fall and for his thoughtfulness of checking on her the following day. The customer stated that she would have had a “long” rest whether she wanted to or not if Marcrum had not arrived to assist her.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
