WOODLAND HILLS, CA — On March 29, 2016, the United States Postal Service held a public meeting to discuss the possible relocation of the Woodland Hills Main Post Office, previously located at 22121 Clarendon St., Woodland Hills, CA 91367.
The Postal Service’s lease for the Post Office expired, and it was forced to relocate to 6101 Owensmouth Ave. on a temporary basis three years ago. The Owensmouth facility was always intended to be temporary location and over the past three years, the Postal Service has looked at a number of properties that did not suit the Postal Service’s needs.
Recently, 21200 Oxnard Street was identified as a possible permanent location for the Woodland Hills Main Office. The Postal Service and the property owner entered into negotiations for a long term lease and have come to agreement on terms.
When the new Post Office opens at its new location, the Postal Service anticipates providing the same services as were provided to our customers at the previous location and are provided at the temporary location. The Postal Service plans to continue services at the temporary Owensmouth facility until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office, so there will be no interruption of service.
While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Woodland Hills community, the Postal Service properly considered community input and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives.
The Postal Service does not receive tax dollars for operating expenses; it relies entirely on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
