SAN SIMEON, CA — On August 5, 2019, the United States Postal Service held a public meeting to discuss the possible relocation of the San Simeon Main Post Office, located at 444 Slo San Simeon Road, San Simeon, CA 93452. After having carefully considered all of the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as in appeals and comments received after the public meeting, the United States Postal Service has decided to proceed with the proposal. The United States Postal Service has identified 250 San Simeon Avenue, Suite 7A as its preferred new location.
The Postal Service needed to vacate the Post Office on August 3, 2019, because the building was unsafe. Shortly thereafter, at the public meeting and during the public comment period, the community expressed a desire to see a new post office open as soon as possible and located within the San Simeon community. After looking at the limited options within San Simeon and properties available for immediate occupancy, the Postal Service has determined that the above location will best service the community.
When the new Post Office opens at its new location, the Postal Service anticipates providing the same services as had been provided to our customers at the previous location. The plan is to begin construction within 30 days with the opening of the new Post Office approximately 60 days after construction begins.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
