CHILCOOT, CA — The U.S. Postal Service has implemented an emergency suspension of the Chilcoot Post Office effective immediately.
As a result of the nearby Gulch Wildfire, the Postal Service is providing the following arrangements for customers served by the Chilcoot Post Office located at 94217 State Highway 70, Chilcoot, CA, 96105.
Beginning today, November 17, 2020, and continuing until further notice, all retail and P.O. Box operations at Chilcoot will be conducted at the Loyalton Post Office located at 500 Main St, Loyalton, CA, 96118.
Chilcoot customers can mail items, purchase stamps or pick up parcels at Loyalton. The Loyalton Post Office is open Mon-Fri: 8:00am – 12:30pm and 1:00pm – 5:00pm. The office is closed Saturday and Sunday.
Customers from Chilcoot who are picking up P.O. Box mail at Loyalton must do so at the retail counter during normal business hours. A valid picture ID is required to pick up P.O. Box mail. This is an emergency suspension of this office, not a permanent closure. Additional details will be provided as they become available regarding the reopening of this office.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
