The U.S. Postal Service has implemented an emergency suspension of the Doyle, Herlong, Milford, and Chilcoot Post Offices effective immediately.
As a result of the nearby Beckwourth Complex Wildfire, the Postal Service is providing the following arrangements for customers served by the Doyle Post Office located at 745-850 Rachel Dr, Doyle, CA, 96109, the Herlong Post Office located at 2067 Yuba St, Herlong, CA, 96113, the Milford Post Office located at 450-075 Milford Grade, Milford, CA 96121, and the Chilcoot Post Office located at 94217 State Highway 70, Chilcoot, CA, 96105.
Beginning today, July 12, 2021, and continuing until further notice, all retail and P.O. Box operations at Doyle, Herlong, and Milford will be conducted at the Susanville Post Office located at 65 N Lassen St, Susanville, CA, 96130. All retail and P.O. Box operations at Chilcoot will be conducted at the Loyalton Post Office located at 500 Main St, Loyalton, CA, 96118.
Doyle, Herlong, and Milford customers can mail items, purchase stamps or pick up parcels at Susanville. The Susanville Post Office is open Mon-Fri: 9:00am – 1:00pm and 2:00pm – 4:00pm. The office is closed Saturday and Sunday.
Chilcoot customers can mail items, purchase stamps or pick up parcels at Loyalton. The Loyalton Post Office is open Mon-Fri: 8:00am – 12:30pm and 1:00pm – 5:00pm. The office is closed Saturday and Sunday.
Customers from Doyle, Herlong, Milford, and Chilcoot who are picking up P.O. Box mail at Susanville or Loyalton must do so at the retail counter during normal business hours. A valid picture ID is required to pick up P.O. Box mail. This is an emergency suspension of this office, not a permanent closure. Additional details will be provided as they become available regarding the reopening of this office.

Using usps.com, customers can look up a ZIP Code, request free Priority Mail Flat Rate packaging, hold their mail, set up Premium Forwarding Service, and even print a mailing label and pay for postage using Click-N-Ship.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
