Death Valley Post Office is on the Move

Will Be Opening in its New, Improved Location on Sept. 3

SAN DIEGO — The Death Valley Post Office will be relocating to a new location on Friday, Sept. 3. The office will be moving to an upgraded location within its current building complex, at 328 Greenland Boulevard.

The move will allow Postmaster Julia Keller to better serve her 200+ PO Box customers and her retail customers. “This move demonstrates the Postal Service’s commitment to Death Valley and to every community in the U.S.” said Keller. “As outlined in USPS’s Delivering for America plan, we are modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers, whether they’re located in the biggest cities or smaller, unique communities such as Death Valley.”

The move will not affect the Death Valley Post Office’s distinction as the lowest postal facility in the U.S., at 282 feet below sea level. It is also the driest and hottest USPS facility.

In order to facilitate the move, the Death Valley Post Office will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 2. During this closure, there will no access to its PO Boxes and retail operations will temporarily cease. Death Valley customers seeking postal retail services on Sept. 2 should visit the Amargosa Valley Post Office, the nearest alternate USPS facility.

The retail hours of the relocated Death Valley Post Office will remain the same, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. It is closed on weekends.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
