Elizabeth “Liz” Edmonds

FORT JONES, CA — “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything," when Elizabeth “Liz” Edmonds  started her postal career as a letter carrier in Seattle, WA., in 1985, Back to the Future captivated audiences and the concept of time travel and using technology in a modern way for entertainment became a trend.  While her postal vehicle at the time wasn’t a DeLorean it was still a seat for a rewarding Postal future that drove Liz to her final position as Postmaster of Fort Jones.

Liz will clock in for the very last time of 36 years on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 8:00 am, at the Fort Jones Post Office, 11954 Main St, Fort Jones, CA 96032.

Liz wore many hats during her postal career, serving as a carrier, station supervisor and finally Postmaster. She moved to Fort Jones with her husband Dennis Edmonds, an Etna High School graduate, and retired Postmaster of Yreka.

She was first appointed as Postmaster of MacDoel, CA 96058 in June of 2000.  This was followed by time served as an Officer-In-Charge of the Weed Post Office before she was appointed to Postmaster of Fort Jones on November 16, 2002 where she has served the citizens of Scott Valley for 19 years.

She leaves knowing that Scott Valley residents will be in great hands with her team continuing to serve the offices of Fort Jones, Greenview and Scott Bar.

Liz says she is grateful for the opportunity to have served the people of Siskiyou County for so many years.

She hopes to find new ways to carry on the mission of service after her retirement.

Liz also plans to take time for new adventures with her husband Dennis, this time behind the wheel of their 34’ Airstream.

“I’m looking forward to becoming a ‘Real Housewife of Fort Jones’,” said Liz.
