Laguna Beach to receive USPS Heroism Award

Recognition ceremony on Tuesday for carrier who helped young customer

The Postal Service would like to extend an invitation to be a part of honoring Levan “Van” Singletary with the United States Postal Service’s Postmaster General Hero Award. Van is being recognized for his outstanding efforts to service the Laguna Beach community and its customers.

Background:

Van Singletary formed a remarkable friendship a local family and their young son, Jacob who was battling a debilitating illness. Learning of Jacob’s delicate condition and his fascination of the post office, Van worked with his Postmaster to encourage Jacob and induct him an honorary postal employee, complete with uniform and postal vehicle. Van is being commended for his selfless display of civic responsibility and his ability to go the extra mile.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
