Background:
On Thursday, April 21st, in her 22nd year as a postal employee, Sandra Black will be sworn in as Jamestown Postmaster.
Black began her postal career in Oakdale, CA as a rural carrier. She began her management career supervising carriers and clerks in Modesto, CA., in 2016.
“I am extremely honored to be Postmaster of Jamestown,” Black said. “This is truly a dream come true. I have to pinch myself because I am so happy. My aim is to serve this community by providing them with stellar customer service by means of my expertly trained team of dedicated employees.”
Black enjoys sewing, quilting, rockhounding, rock tumbling and photography. She has one son, Matthew. She is a member of the Motherlode Gem & Mineral Society as well as a member of the Jamestown Promotional Club.
As Jamestown Postmaster, Black oversees over 4,400 pieces of daily mail deliveries, with over 2,600 addresses, which spans more than 202 miles. In addition, Jamestown services 1,350 Post Office Box deliveries. Black manages nine employees, four rural routes, with a population of over 5,600.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
