Background:
On Friday, April 22nd, in her 24th year as a postal employee, Diana Certini-Waymire will be sworn in as Visalia Postmaster.
Certini-Waymire began her postal career in Selma, CA in 1996. A few years later, she began working as a clerk in Visalia, CA. In 1999, she began her management career and worked in a number of different cities which include Farmersville, Corcoran, Tulare, Lindsay, Hanford, Delano, Lemoore, and Porterville.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be selected as Postmaster of the city where I was born and raised,” Certini-Waymire said. “As a hometown girl, I will continue the long-standing history in Visalia of providing excellent customer service to all those in this community. The Postal Service is continually innovating to provide first-class service which can be seen in the PMG’s Delivering for America 10-Year Plan.”
Certini-Waymire enjoy travelling, cooking, baking, reading murder mystery novels, attending estate sales and spending time with her family. She has four children: Seth, 37, Amanda, 29, Steven, 24 and Ashley, 20. She received her Associate of Sciences degree from the College of the Sequoias. She is a 46-year member of the Sons of Italy, Enrico Caruso Lodge.
As Visalia Postmaster, Certini-Waymire oversees over 95,000 pieces of mail delivered daily while also servicing over 4,000 Post Office Box deliveries. She manages 176 employees, 75 postal routes with a population of over 138,000.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
