Background:

On Thursday, May 26th, in his 19th year as a postal employee, Paul Keeranan will be sworn in as Santa Barbara Postmaster.

Keeranan began his postal career in 2003 as a Carrier at the East Beach Carrier Annex in Santa Barbara. A retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force, he was promoted as a Supervisor Customer Service in 2005 at the Goleta Branch in Santa Barbara. Keeranan was promoted again in 2014 to Manager of Customer Service and worked in the Simi Valley-Mt. McCoy Station. He was promoted to Manager of Customer Service of the Goleta Branch in Santa Barbara the following year.  In 2018, Keeranan was promoted as the Postmaster of Moorpark and then as the Postmaster of the Camarillo Post Office in 2019.

“This is one of the biggest achievements of my Postal career and I am honored and humbled to be selected as Postmaster of Santa Barbara. My goal is to provide the best possible customer service to the Santa Barbara community that I can,” Keeranan said.

The Postal Service is continually innovating to provide first-class service which can be seen in the PMG’s Delivering for America 10-Year Plan.”

Keeranan enjoys gardening, playing golf and spending time with family including his wife Jan and his three children: Charles age 35, Valerie age 33, and Paul Jr. age 19.

As Santa Barbara Postmaster, Keeranan oversees over 100,000 pieces of mail delivered daily while also servicing over 10,000 Post Office Box deliveries. He manages 218 employees, 120 postal routes with a population of over 120,000.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
