Background:
On Friday, June 17th, in his 19th year as a postal employee, Dan Boxley will be sworn in as Bishop Postmaster.
Boxley began his postal career in 2002 as a Rural Carrier Assistant in Bishop CA. He has worked several different positions which include City Carrier and Supervisor of Customer Service.
“It is an honor to serve the community of Bishop. As a Postmaster, I will strive to be a pillar of the community,” Boxley said. “The Postal Service is continually innovating to provide first-class service which can be seen in the Postmaster General’s Delivering for America 10-Year Plan.”
Boxley enjoys the outdoors, hiking, hunting and fishing. He has four daughters; Jessi Mack, Jordan Boxley, Kailyn Boxley, Kori Boxley and is husband to Paula Boxley. He is both an AYSO and High School Varsity soccer coach as well as a 4-H leader in the Bishop community.
As Bishop Postmaster, Boxley oversees over 6,000 pieces of mail delivered daily while also servicing over 1,000 Post Office Box deliveries. He manages 17 employees and oversees 10 postal routes to serve a population of more than 7,000.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
