CHULA VISTA – Henry Roberson Jr. was recently named the Postmaster of the Chula Vista Post Office.

He replaces former Chula Vista Postmaster Justine Valadez, who was recently promoted to a district-level management position.

As Chula Vista Postmaster, Roberson supervises 273 employees and oversees retail services at the Chula Vista Post Office and the daily distribution of mail on 136 delivery routes and to more than 10,000 PO Boxes at his facility.

Roberson is a 25-year postal employee who began his career as a letter carrier and previously served as a manager at the Pacific Beach Post Office.

I’m excited to take on this new challenge,” said Roberson. “It’s truly an honor and a privilege to step into this position. I hope to continue the Postal Service’s legacy of outstanding customer service, to mentor my supervisors to career success, and to contribute to the overall success of the organization.

“As outlined in USPS’s Delivering for America plan, we are modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers. Our customers are priority one, whether they’re located in the biggest cities or smaller communities such as Chula Vista.

“I’m grateful to the leadership team at the USPS San Diego District office for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”

Roberson was born in West Monroe, Louisiana and currently resides in Chula Vista. He is a graduate of West Monroe High School, Northeastern University and American Technical Institution.

Roberson’s hobbies include working out and fishing. He has one daughter, Britney.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations
