Background:
The Silverado Post Office was first established on August 27, 1878, during a brief silver mining boom. Pharez A. Clark was the first postmaster and served from 1878-182. By 1881 the mines were closed, and the post office closed in 1883. The post office was re-established briefly from 1906-1907 when the Western Zinc Co. tried to revive the mines. On November 30, 1931, the Silverado Post Office was officially reopened with Elsie McClelland serving as the postmaster.
As the 13th Postmaster of Silverado, Cocherell is committed to service the Silverado community as proudly as the postmasters who have served before him. Cocherell enjoys fishing, music, gardening and spending as much time as possible with his family. He is married to Angie, and they have three children together: Courtney, Katelyn, and Joseph.
Cocherell will manage an office of three employees, 392 delivery addresses, 570 post office boxes and one rural route.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
