SOLANA BEACH – Richard Zamora was recently named the Postmaster of the Solana Beach Post Office.

He replaces former Solana Beach Postmaster Jose Cerros, who moved on to another postal facility.

As Solana Beach Postmaster, Zamora supervises 23 employees and oversees retail services at the Solana Beach Post Office and the daily distribution of mail on 12 delivery routes and to 1,500 PO Boxes at his facility.

Zamora is a 15-year postal employee who began his career as a mail handler and most recently served as a supervisor at the Solana Beach Post Office.

I’m extremely proud and blessed to have been selected for this great opportunity,” said Zamora. “I hope to continue the Postal Service’s legacy of outstanding customer service, to serve as a positive mentor to my employees, and to contribute to the overall success of the organization.

“As outlined in USPS’s Delivering for America plan, we are modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers. Our customers are priority one, whether they’re located in the biggest cities or smaller communities such as Solana Beach.

“I want to express my gratitude to my parents and my family for supporting me throughout my career, and to the leadership team at the USPS San Diego District office for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”

Zamora was born in Santa Clara, raised in Sacramento and currently resides in Pala. He is a graduate of Luther Burbank High School and a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Zamora’s hobbies include spending time with his family, pottery and recreational shooting.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
