Oakland Post Office Delivers Careers

Postal Service Looking to Hire Nearly 100 Career Carriers

OAKLAND, CA — Benefits, growth, opportunity and pride are just some of the advantages when starting your career with the United States Postal Service. It is not just a job; it is a career journey with the most trusted federal agency in the country where employees are #PostalProud.

With the continued spike in online shopping and many residents depending on the delivery of essential goods, the Postal Service is ready to hire beyond the holidays. As part of our innovative and bold 10-year plan, Delivering for America, the Postal Service is committed to cultivating that growth by building a stable and empowered workforce.

To help you get started, the Oakland Post Office is holding two free hiring events to fill key career positions, including City Carrier in Oakland.

The free hiring events will be held at the Civic Center Post Office, 201 13th St., Oakland, CA 94612 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 18th and Thursday, October 20th.

Applicants will be guided through the online application process by USPS staff, hear from real employees and submit their applications in real time for positions posted on www.usps.com/careers.

Applicants must be 18 years of age, or 16 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. All applicants must be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background investigation. Some positions require an exam. Any position that has a driving requirement will also require a valid driver license and clean DMV 2-year driving history. Citizenship or permanent resident status of five years is required.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
