Background:

President Biden signed into public law, bill H.R. 735, which designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at, 502 East Cotati Street in Cotati, Califiornia, as the “Arthur Luis Ibleto Post Office Building.”  The bill was introduced by Ibleto’s long time friend, Rep. Mike Thompson.

Born in 1926, Arthur Ibleto immigrated to the United States from Northern Italy after his time as a freedom fighter for the Italian Resistance during WW2.  He began working on the Ghirardelli Bros. vegetable ranch in Petaluma where he met and fell in love with his future wife, Victoria.  They married in 1951, and Arthur immediately began making his mark on Sonoma County.

From Christmas trees and potatoes to building his own vineyard, Ibleto has cultivated numerous thriving businesses within Santo Rosa and the surrounding areas.  However, what he is best known for his philanthropy as the Pasta King.  For more than 50 years Ibleto and his family have owned and operated the Spaghetti Palace at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

Typically donning a kitchen apron and a large smile, Ibleto was a charismatic and giving person, often hosting community dinners to raise money for people dealing with natural disasters and other personal tragedy, or just as a celebration for the community.  For decades, Ibleto brought people together amongst mounds of spaghetti and gallons of pasta sauce to raise money for charity, education, and just celebrate the accomplishments of his community.

Ibleto died in November of 2020 at the age of 94 and is survived by his children, Mark and Annette, his siblings and many grandchildren.
