CERES, CA — On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Shelly Holton will follow a proud tradition dating back to when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Holton will raise her right hand to take the official Oath of Office as the Postmaster of the Ceres Post Office at an 11:00 a.m. ceremony at the Ceres Post Office, 2801 Mitchell Road, Ceres, CA 95307.

Post Office Operations Manager Neil Gonzalez will administer the oath.

Holton began her postal career in 1986 as a city carrier. In 2005 Holton stepped into management as a Supervisor in Stockton, CA. Holton then took on her most recent role in 2013 as the Postmaster of Valley Springs.

As outlined in the USPS Delivering for America plan, the postal service is committed to modernizing and continually adapting to the evolving needs of all customers. As the Postmaster of the Ceres Post Office Holton is prepared to serve her community with that development in mind.

“A Postmaster is truly a part of their community, and it is my mission as to ensure my entire team serves this community with outstanding service,” said Holton.

Holton resides in Modesto, CA where she enjoys spending time with her friends and family including her two children April and Shane and four grandchildren, Andrew, Isaiah, Ayvah and Londyn.

In her spare time Holton enjoys travelling and reading.

As the Postmaster of Ceres, Holton supervises 30 employees who process forty thousand pieces of mail and oversees the retail services and the daily distribution of mail to 14,317 delivery stops, 3,500 PO Boxes, 10 city routes and 7 rural routes to a community of over 50,000 residents.
