Manages USPS Retail & Delivery Services for Big Bear Lake
BIG BEAR LAKE – Mylaka Fowler was recently named the Postmaster of the Big Bear Lake Post Office.
She replaces former Big Bear Lake Postmaster Ruben Hernandez, who retired.
As Big Bear Lake Postmaster, Fowler supervises seven employees and oversees retail services at the Big Bear Lake Post Office and the daily distribution of mail on one delivery route and to 4,000 PO Boxes at her facility.
Fowler is a 17-year postal employee who began her career as a mail carrier in San Bernardino and most recently served as the officer in charge of the Big Bear City Post Office.
“I’m excited and honored to have been selected for this wonderful opportunity to serve this special mountain community,” said Fowler. “I hope to continue the Postal Service’s legacy of outstanding customer service and to contribute to the overall success of the organization.
“As outlined in USPS’s Delivering for America plan, we are modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers. Our customers are priority one, whether they’re located in the biggest cities or smaller communities such as Big Bear Lake.
“I want to express my gratitude to my family for their support and encouragement throughout my career, to the mentors and colleagues who have assisted me, and to the leadership team at the USPS San Diego District office for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”
Fowler was born in San Bernardino and raised in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Moreno Valley High School and attended San Bernardino Valley College.
Fowler’s hobbies include spending time with her family, including her “wonderful grandchild,” hiking, reading and sewing.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
