San Francisco, CA — Several newly promoted postmasters drove as much as two and a half hours from their home offices for the chance to be sworn in by Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy. In a group ceremony held on October 24th, DeJoy gave the oath of office to thirty-two new postmasters, including 11 from the California 1 District. This ceremony capped off an hour and a half long program where DeJoy discussed his Delivering for America plan to over 400 EAS attendees from around the Bay Area.
During the meeting DeJoy emphasized the importance of stabilizing the postal pre-career workforce so they walk through the door on day one feeling like they have a chance to move up and make a long-lasting career. Not only is the plan designed to streamline our infrastructure and lower the Postal Services operating costs, but also reduce our carbon footprint in the process, which is something DeJoy is very proud of. The meeting was among the first stops for DeJoy as he toured the four major plants that make up the distribution network throughout the Bay Area.
