Katherine Tran to be Sworn in as new Burbank Postmaster

Katherine Tran

BURBANK, CA — On Friday, November 18, 2022, Katherine Tran will follow a proud tradition dating back to when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Tran will raise her right hand to take the official Oath of Office as the Postmaster of the Burbank Post Office at a 1:00 p.m. ceremony at the Burbank Post Office, 135 East Olive Avenue, Burbank, CA 91502. Post Office Operations Manager Linda Catuogno will administer the oath.

Tran, a proud 24-year postal employee, began her postal career in 1998 as a part time clerk at the World Way Airmail Center in Los Angeles. When she was not working, she was studying, and Tran earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration the following year.

In 2003 Tran shifted gears to the maintenance department where she served as a clerk before stepping into management in 2006 as a Station Supervisor at the Pasadena Post Office. Tran went on to serve as a Postmaster at several other stations including the Reseda Post Office in 2019 her most recent role before coming to Burbank.

As outlined in the USPS Delivering for America plan, the postal service is committed to modernizing and continually adapting to the evolving needs of all customers. As the Postmaster of the Burbank Post Office Tran is prepared to serve her community with that development in mind.

“As a leader and a Postmaster my philosophy is the most effective way to do it -is to- DO IT. I am committed to providing a safe working environment for my employees and building trust with the Burbank community and staff,” said Tran. “I am proud to represent the U.S. Postal Service and will continue to provide consistent service my community expects from the Postal Service.”

Tran resides in Altadena, CA where she enjoys spending time with her friends and family including partner Prince, daughter Jacqueline, 26, sons Ethan, 21, Nathan, 21, Devlin, 19 and mom Hoa, 86.

In her spare time, Tran enjoys eating, cruising, camping, watching war movies, and walking her cats Cat and Bianco and dog Trevor.

As the Postmaster of Burbank, Tran manages 190 employees and oversees the retail and daily distribution of 219,250 pieces of mail to over 66,428 delivery stops, 3800 PO Boxes, 102 city routes to a community of over 107,337 residents.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
