Sunnyvale Postal Clerk retires after 36 years of service

SUNNYVALE, CA — On Friday, March 31, 2023, Sunnyvale U.S. Postal Service Retail Clerk Sukhvir ‘Suki’ Phangureh will clock in for the very last time after 36 years at the Sunnyvale Post Office 209 E Java DR, Sunnyvale, CA 94089.

Phangureh started her postal career in January of 1987 as a clerk at the Sunnyvale Post Office where she has worked for nearly four decades.

She decided to join the Postal Service for the career stability and the job security it offered.

Phangureh’s years of service have have been marked by many achievements including recognition for submitting ideas to enhance retail products and services.

She made it through her career as a clerk she says by following a very simple rule “It was important to me to respect others and treat them how I would like to be treated.”

Over the course of her career, Phangureh has seen a lot of changes including the shift from manual processing to automation to process letters and packages. Her most memorable moment is when she became a career clerk the same year she joined the postal service.

She will miss the entire Sunnyvale team including her co-workers and managers.

In her retirement she looks forward to traveling and spending time with friends and family including her husband and three grandchildren.
