Passport Demand is High; Residents Urged to Plan Ahead for Summer Travel
What:
The Adelanto and Victorville Post Offices will be hosting Passport Fairs, at which postal employees will accept applications for new U.S. passports.
“Now that COVID-19 concerns have declined and nations are welcoming back travelers, many Victorville-area residents are eager to get out and see the world,” said USPS Senior Operations Manager Ray Lemos. “We encourage our customers to plan ahead and get their passport applications in now. The U.S. Passport Agency’s processing time for new passports is longer than usual due to extremely high demand.
“The purpose of these events is to make the process of applying for new passports easy for residents of Adelanto and Victorville. A lot of people, especially those with schoolchildren, don’t have the time during the week to visit a post office to submit their passport applications.
“Our postal clerks are coming into the office on these two Saturdays to help customers who want to get a head start on their summer international travel plans.”
