John Wong named new Windsor Postmaster

WINDSOR, CA — On Saturday, May 20, 2023, John Wong will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1855 when Pony Express rider Hiram Lewis became the town’s first Postmaster.

Wong will raise his right hand to take the official Oath of Office as the Postmaster of the Windsor Post Office at a Noon ceremony at the Hembree House Cultural Center, 9225 Foxwood Dr, Windsor, CA 95492.

Post Office Operations Manager Michelle Tucker will administer the oath.

Wong, a proud 29-year postal service employee began his postal career in 1994 as a mail handler at the North Bay Processing Plant in Petaluma. Wong stepped into management in 2002 as a Supervisor of  Distribution Operations. He went on to serve roles in operations, address management, finance, and manager of customer service.

In 2015, Wong took on his most recent role as Supervisor of Customer Service for the Santa Rosa Post Office before his promotion to the Windsor Post Office.  

As outlined in the USPS Delivering for America plan, the postal service is committed to modernizing and continually adapting to the evolving needs of all customers. As the Postmaster of the Windsor Post Office Wong is prepared to serve his community with that development in mind.

“I am focused on keeping our customers connected,” said Wong. “The Post Office is the cornerstone of the community it serves, and it is my goal to ensure that every employee and customer that comes to the Windsor Post Office feels welcome and appreciated.”

Wong resides in Windsor, CA with his spouse Karen, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family including children Kalie 36, Robert 36, Ryan 31, and Lin 28.

In his free time Wong enjoys cooking and film. He is a member of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and Windsor Historical Society.

As the Postmaster of Windsor, Wong supervises 31 employees and oversees the retail services and the daily distribution of 27,000 pieces of mail and 4,000 packages to 10,244 delivery stops, 1,932 PO Boxes, 16 rural delivery routes to a community of over 26,200 residents.
