Background:

On Wednesday, July 12th, in his 10th year as a postal employee, James Taylor will be sworn in as Ione Postmaster. He will follow in steps of the first Ione Postmaster Dorothy Stewart in 1852.

Taylor began his postal career in Bismarck, Arkansas in 2013 as a rural letter carrier before transferring to Hot Springs, Arkansas the following year. In 2019, he began his management career in Carmichael, CA and later in Sacramento, CA.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be Postmaster of this great community,” Taylor said. “My goal is to continue providing top-notch customer service by means of my expertly trained staff. The Postal Service aims to provide first-class service which can be seen in the PMG’s Delivering for America 10-Year Plan,” he said.

Taylor enjoys cooking for his friends and family, playing video games and spending time with his dogs. He is married to Alyssa. They reside in Elk Grove, CA

As Ione Postmaster, Taylor oversees over 9,000 pieces of mail delivered daily while also servicing over 1,225 Post Office Box deliveries. He manages 12 people, five postal routes with a population of over 11,300.
