Background:

On Friday, July 14th, in his 29th year as a postal employee, Francisco Ascencio will be sworn in as Richmond Postmaster. He will follow in steps of the first Richmond Postmaster Lyman Naugle in 1900.

Ascencio began his postal career in Richmond, CA in 1994 as a letter carrier and has now come full circle with his designation as Richmond Postmaster.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be Postmaster of this great community, following in the footsteps of leaders that preceded me,” Ascencio said. “My goal is to continue providing top-notch customer service by means of my expertly trained staff. The Postal Service aims to provide first-class service which can be seen in the PMG’s Delivering for America 10-Year Plan,” he said.

Ascencio enjoys playing old school video games, watching movies, singing, and spending time with his family. He is married to Maria Ascencio, and they have two daughters, Karina, and Deanna. They reside in San Pablo, CA

As Richmond Postmaster, Ascencio oversees over 98,000 pieces of mail delivered daily while also servicing over 4,600 Post Office Box deliveries. He manages 168 people, 109 postal routes with a population of over 116,400.
