Background:
On Wednesday, July 19th in his 13th year as a postal employee, Jagdeep Varaich will be sworn in as Chowchilla Postmaster. He will follow in steps of the first Chowchilla Postmaster Harold E. Rogers installed in 1933.
Varaich began his postal career in Arcata, CA in 2010 as a letter carrier. In 2017, he began his management career and has worked in the following cities, Eureka, San Rafael, Fresno, and Bodega Bay, CA.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be Postmaster of this great community, following in the footsteps of leaders that preceded me,” Varaich said. “My goal is to continue providing top-notch customer service by means of my expertly trained staff. The Postal Service aims to provide first-class service which can be seen in the PMG’s Delivering for America 10-Year Plan,” he said.
Varaich enjoys traveling, gardening, spending time with his friends and family, doing home renovations and cooking. His parents are Jasbir and Harpal. He is married to Lori, and they have two young sons, Yuvraj and Sartaj. They reside in Fresno, CA. Varaich holds a Bachelor’s in accounting and a Bachelor of Laws degree. He is a volunteer member of the California State Guard and at his local Sikh Temple.
As Chowchilla Postmaster, Varaich oversees over 35,000 pieces of mail delivered daily while also servicing over 600 Post Office Box deliveries. He manages 28 people, 12 postal routes with a population of over 19,000.
