Santa Barbara opens up Mail Processing Center

Get a rare behind-the-scenes look at package sorting systems

What:

The Santa Barbara Mail Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) will handle hundreds of millions of pieces of mail and packages this holiday season. We will open up our doors to the media for one evening only.

We will show high-speed letter sorting operations and large bins of parcels being separated and sorted on the most advanced equipment in the country.

The Santa Barbara P&DC has 14 delivery bar code sorters (DBCS), three advanced face canceler systems (AFCS), an automated parcel and bundle sorter (APBS) and a small parcel sorting system (SPSS) to help handle the expected volume increase.

This industrial environment provides great visuals of high-tech, high-speed processing, automated systems, and employees moving equipment.

The processing facility is 233,000 square feet with approximately 260 employees.
