Jerri LeFever takes oath as Postmaster of Palermo

Jerri LeFever

PALERMO, CA — On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., Jerri LeFever will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1888 when Thomas B. Ludlum served as the first Postmaster of Palermo.

In her 21st year as a Postal employee, LeFever will raise her right hand to take the official Oath of Office as the 19th Postmaster of the Palermo Post Office at a ceremony at the Palermo Post Office, 7390 Lincoln Blvd, Palermo, CA 95968.

Post Office Operations Manager Paul Heroux will administer the oath.

LeFever began her postal career in the fall of 2003 as a casual in Oroville, CA. She became a career carrier in 2004.  She went on to training others and became an on-the-job instructor before stepping into management as a supervisor in November of 2018.

Not long after assuming the role as Supervisor the most destructive and deadliest wildfire in California history, the Camp Fire, consumed the area.

“Stepping into the role of management at that time was about taking care of coworkers, family, and friends who had lost everything including loved ones. The postal service played a vital role in getting necessary means to the communities who lost everything,” said LeFever.

“Being a part of the postal team during this time of need still tears me up today. That experience changed my outlook on the postal service and the importance of community service.”

Her most recent role was as a supervisor at the Oroville Post Office before receiving her promotion as the Postmaster of Palermo in March 2024.

As outlined in the USPS Delivering for America plan, the postal service is committed to modernizing and continually adapting to the evolving needs of all customers. As the Postmaster of the Palermo Post Office LeFever is prepared to serve her community with that development in mind.

“It is my mission as the Postmaster of Palermo to continue to help bind the community together. I am committed to providing consistent and reliable service to the Palermo and Bangor customers,” said LeFever.

LeFever is a proud mother of two daughters, Zoie 25, and Allison, 22.

She resides in Thermalito, CA and enjoys gardening, volunteering and is a member of the moose lodge.

As Palermo Postmaster, LeFever oversees the delivery to 1,420 stops in both Palermo and Bangor, while also servicing over 800 Post Office Boxes in Palermo and Bangor. She manages five employees and oversees 1 Palermo Rural Route and 1 Bangor Contract Driver Route to serve a population of over 1800.
