Horses Postage Stamp to be unveiled at the event
What:
Join the Northern California Postal Customer Council (NCPCC) in reliving the days of the old west through a Pony Express reenactment. The ride kicks off at the start of the NCPCC general membership meeting with a history of the Pony Express followed by the Sacramento Postmaster swearing in the Pony Express rider.
This is a great opportunity to capture photos and video as the Pony Express rider begins the more than 2,000-mile journey to Missouri carrying official USPS mail to its destination and to purchase the new 2024 Horses Postage Stamp.Who:

Background:
The National Pony Express Association (NPEA) will celebrate the anniversary of the Pony Express by conducting a re-run of the famous mail service June 17-27. Horse and rider relays will carry commemorative letters and personal mail nearly 2,000 miles from the Sacramento River to Missouri River.
The route will be over the Pony Express National Historic Trail, a component of the National Trails System. Six hundred riders from the NPEA’s eight state divisions will take the traditional Pony Express Oath. With relays of one to five miles, riders will take turns transporting a mail filled mochila – a leather square with four pockets sewn in the corners.
The 10-day, 24-hour a day event honors the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Co. founded by Russell, Majors and Waddell, a Missouri freighting firm. It carried letters and telegrams from April 1860 to November 1861, to prove the Central Route – through California, Nevada, Utah, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, and Kansas to Missouri – is passable year-round.
About Postal Customer Councils
PCCs are local organizations that help foster a close working relationship between USPS and commercial mailers with the goal of sharing information about postal products, programs, and services through an educational and collaborative environment.
The PCC program is a valuable resource for business mailers, large and small. Local PCCs serve as an open channel for USPS-to-business communication, providing information and best practices for achieving cost-effective and profitable mailing, education, and training, as well as solving local challenges. Through regular meetings, educational programs, mailer clinics, and seminars, PCC members learn about the latest postal products and services that may help them grow their business.
