SACRAMENTO, CA — On April 23, 2024, the United States Postal Service mailed 16,050 Proposed Post Office Relocation Cards to the public regarding the Sacramento Metro Retail Post Office located at 660 J. Street, Suite 170, Sacramento, CA 95814. After having carefully considered all the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as the comments received after the mailer, we have decided to proceed with the proposal.  The United States Postal Service has identified 1016 R. Street, Suite D, Sacramento, CA 95814 as its new preferred location.

 The United States Postal Service needs to vacate the current location because the landlord at the current facility has plans to remodel the facility and is not offering a lease extension. When the new Post Office opens at this new location, the Postal Service anticipates providing the same services as are provided to our customers at the current location. The Postal Service plans to continue services at the existing Post Office until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office, so there will be no interruption of service.

While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the downtown Sacramento community, the Postal Service properly considered community input and this decision is consistent with our Delivering for America objectives.
