SANTA CLARITA, CA — On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Santa Clarita Post Office, located at 24355 Creekside Road, will be dedicated to honor William L. Reynolds at 9:30 a.m. “We are very proud to have this facility honor the life and accomplishments of William L. Reynolds,” said Santa Clarita District Manager Al Santos.
Santos will be joined at the ceremony by Representative Mike Garcia (CA-27), Assemblywoman Schiavo, Senator Wilk, the Reynolds family, and other dignitaries to unveil the building naming plaque that will be installed in the Post Office lobby.
Representative Mike Garcia’s legislation to rename the Valencia Post Office at 24355 Creekside Road to the “William L. Reynolds Post Office Building” was officially signed into law by President Biden (H.R. 292) on May 7, 2024. This significant recognition commemorates William L. Reynolds, a Vietnam War veteran and revered figure in the Santa Clarita community.
“Bill Reynolds was a decorated Vietnam war veteran, staunch advocate for veterans and military families, and dear friend,” said Rep. Garcia. “The impact of his relentless efforts to support our veterans are immeasurable and felt well beyond the borders of CA-27. It’s with profound respect that our post office is dedicated in his name, ensuring his legacy continues to influence and inspire all of us within the community he loved.”
Bill was president of Santa Clarita Valley Veterans Memorial Inc. and was known as a tireless advocate for his fellow veterans in the Santa Clarita Valley.
His leadership and tenacity led to the creation of the Fallen Warriors Monument at Veterans Historical Plaza in Newhall, which is a memorial wall dedicated to the memory of all Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) veterans – known and unknown – who died while serving our country since World War I.
To ensure no story was left untold, Bill spent the better part of two years tracking down nearly 50 SCV residents to memorialize.
As the former Director of Veterans Affairs at the Santa Clarita Valley Signal, Bill dutifully told the stories of our City’s veterans to the wider community.
Among his proudest moments – aside from creating the Fallen Warrior Monument – was helping veterans get the opportunity to visit historical sites around the world for momentous occasions.
He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
