Los Angeles, CA – The U.S. Postal Service has the largest fleet of vehicles among federal agencies and skilled automotive technicians are needed to keep them on the road. On May 2, 2025, the California 5 (Los Angeles) District Postal Service will be hosting an in-person job fair where applicants will meet with a specialist. The specialist will answer questions about the application process and help candidates build a profile to apply for USPS positions; no appointment necessary.

Starting annual salary for automotive technician is $63,658; starting salary for lead automotive technician is $71,056; both paid bi-weekly.

Applicants must successfully complete Postal Service's Test 943 and Test 944.
At the time of appointment, applicants must have a valid driver's license from the state in which they live.
Applicants must also demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record. Applicants selected under this qualification standard must successfully complete the required Vehicle Familiarization and Safe Operation training, including demonstration of the ability to safely drive a vehicle of the type used on the job.
Qualified applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening to meet the U.S. Postal Service's requirement to be drug free. Applicants must also be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident alien status.
