Update: Torrance Main Post Office

Operations Relocated Until Further Notice

TORRANCE, CA — On July 26, the Retail, Post Office Box and Delivery operations at the Torrance Main Post Office, located at 2510 Monterey Street, Torrance, CA, 90503, were relocated to neighboring facilities as a precautionary measure, following concerns regarding potential asbestos exposure within the building.

The Postal Service has concluded all testing at the Torrance Post Office and confirmed that no asbestos-containing materials were identified within the air duct systems or any human-occupied areas.

However, further testing has determined that all remaining property inside the facility has been contaminated with asbestos, including all mail and packages.

Out of an abundance of caution, the United States Postal Inspection Service is overseeing the collection and respectful disposal of the contaminated mail and packages. While we understand the importance of these items to our customers, these steps are being taken in accordance with federal, state, and local OSHA and EPA regulations.

At this time, services for Bulk Mail Entry Unit (BMEU), Hold Mail, Caller Service, and PO Box handled by the Torrance Main Post Office have been relocated as designated below.
