Escondido Post Office Celebrates Date Meets ZIP

A once-a-century special event coincides with USPS 250th anniversary

Escondido, CA Post Office date meets zip postmark.

On Saturday, Sept. 20, the Escondido Post Office will commemorate a once-a-century alignment of the date on the calendar — 9.20.25 — with its ZIP Code — 92025.

The alignment of calendar dates with ZIP Codes occurs only once a century and in relatively few locations nationwide. Here in Southern California, our ZIP Codes meet their dates in September.

Escondido Postmaster Dat Nguyen is excited to have this event occur at his post office. “I’ve been to events like this before, but they haven’t been at my post office. This is a great event and I’m looking forward to celebrating with the community,” he said. “It’s especially memorable because this is the same year as the 250th anniversary of the Postal Service.”

The alignment program is scheduled to include Escondido Postmaster Dat Nguyen, Escondido Mayor Dane White, Miss Escondido, community members and more.

A very special salute to the date meeting ZIP is planned to take place at exactly 9:20:25 am (9:20 and 25 seconds); arrive early to ensure being present for that fun activity.

Special commemorative envelopes will be available that feature the “92025 Date Meets ZIP” postmark, as depicted above. The special postmark will also be available at that office to cancel items presented by customers for 30 days after the date.

The Postal Service is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, commemorating its rich history of binding the nation together by connecting people, communities, and businesses.
