BRAWLEY, CA — The Postal Service and Representative Raul Ruiz held a dedication ceremony on Friday, October 24, at the Brawley Post Office in honor of Entravision Communications co-founder and Brawley Native Walter Ulloa.

Participants included Representative Raul Ruiz, Manager Post Office Operations Oscar Gonzalez, Brawley Mayor Gil Rebolla, and family members Alexandra, Bruno, and Ron Ulloa.

Representative Ruiz introduced H.R. 8641 in the House of Representatives in June, 2024. The bill was passed by the House and the Senate in December of that year and signed into law on January 4, 2025.

“Walter Ulloa’s legacy is in your home, on your channels, on your t.v. every single day. Telling local stories, your stories,” remarked Congressman Ruiz of Ulloa’s legacy. “Through his leadership, Entravision became one of the largest media networks serving an audience of all backgrounds, especially Hispanic audiences. Ensuring that millions in American could see themselves represented in news, entertainment, and public discourse.”

Walter Ulloa was a Brawley native who helped transform Spanish-speaking television and radio broadcasting. He began his career at the Los Angeles Spanish Language television station KMEX writing commentary for an on-air personality.

Inspired by the importance of media and wanting to see Latino culture reflected in broadcasting, he learned the business, becoming news director. He later left KMEX and began to acquire stations with his business partners. In 1996, he co-founded Entravision Communications.

Over the following years, Entravision Communications expanded and diversified operations by acquiring television and radio stations focused on the Hispanic market across the country. It now includes a large network of affiliate Spanish-language television and radio stations, advertising, digital, and media operations.

Mr. Ulloa passed away in 2022 and Entravision continues his vision of connecting brands and delivering news to the Latino market.

The Postal Service and Brawley postal employees are honored to have the Brawley Post Office dedicated in his honor.

“Here in Brawley, Walter's story reminds us that greatness often begins in small towns like ours — places where values like family, hard work, and community are deeply rooted,” said Mia Limon, Officer in Charge, Brawley Post Office. “His achievements have brought pride to Brawley and inspired countless others to pursue their dreams while never forgetting where they came from. Our team at the Brawley Post Office is incredibly proud to have the building dedicated to Walter Ulloa.”
