Updated space provides a smoother experience for local residents and businesses and offers more self-service options
OXNARD, CA — The U.S. Postal Service held a ribbon cutting ceremony to reveal a recently upgraded retail lobby at the Oxnard, CA, Sorting and Delivery Center.
The updated lobby is part of broader USPS efforts to modernize retail spaces with clearer service guidance, improved traffic flow, and technology-forward options that help customers complete routine tasks more quickly — while still preserving the reliable in-person service they want and need.
“Today’s retail lobby is designed around how customers actually use the Post Office,” said Elvin Mercado, chief retail and delivery officer and executive vice president for the U.S. Postal Service. “It’s clearer, easier to navigate and built to help people get in and out faster — without losing the personal support that matters when you need it.”
Modernized lobbies in Oxnard and across the country feature improvements such as updated digital information displays, streamlined layouts, and expanded self-service options, depending on site capabilities. These upgrades can include enhanced self-service kiosks, rapid drop-off options, and secure USPS Smart Locker package pickup at any time of day or night.
Some upgraded locations also provide access to government services such as passports, fingerprinting, and identity proofing, allowing customers to complete multiple tasks in one visit. Availability varies by location.
USPS is also expanding digital tools that support faster service, including the USPS Rapid Drop mobile app, which allows customers to save prepaid labels, find Post Office locations, track packages and subscribe to updates.
