In accordance with 39 C.F.R. 241.4, this constitutes the United States Postal Service’s final decision to relocate Niland Post Office to 218 E. 1st Street, Niland, CA. This relocation is necessary due to a fire that rendered the previous facility unusable in 2022.
While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Niland community, the Postal Service properly considered community input, and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives. Postal Service operations are not supported by tax dollars. To be self-sustaining, the Postal Service must make decisions that ensure it provides adequate and affordable postal services in a manner that is as efficient and economical as possible.
The Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at the new facility as previously provided at the previous location. Postal operations will continue to serve Niland customers with the mobile unit at 8071 Luxor Ave (next to the fire station). The mobile unit will be open during the following hours: Mon-Fri 11 am – 1 pm; 1:30 pm – 3 pm. Customers may pick up their PO Box mail and conduct retail transactions.
