Deputy Sheriff Derek Geer, a 15-year-veteran of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department, was killed in the line of duty. Derek, a Navy veteran and loving father of two, served with great skill and bravery to keep his community safe and secure.

He was honored with the Lifesaving award in 2012 for helping revive a woman in cardiac arrest.  After his death February 8, 2016, Deputy Geer continued to save lives donating his organs to four different people.  In December of 2016, he was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations
