New Colorado City Contract Post Office To Open Aug. 2 for Mail Pick Up

COLORADO CITY, CO — Colorado City postal customers will soon have more convenient access to their mail. Effective Friday, Aug. 2, the new Contract Post Office location at 9048 South I-25 in Colorado City will open for PO Box mail pick up. Retail services and permanent Post Office Boxes will not be available at the new location until a future date, as they are currently under construction.

The previous contract location was closed last month after the previous contractor decided not to renew his contract. Post Office Box delivery was temporarily relocated to the Sunset Post Office location in Pueblo.

Today, July 31, is the last day Colorado City residents may pick up their mail from the Sunset Post Office in Pueblo. There will be no mail pick up for Colorado City residents on Aug. 1, in order for USPS to transport the necessary equipment and mail to the new location in Colorado City.

Beginning Aug. 2, Colorado City customers will be able to pick up their mail at the new Colorado City location Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to noon.

Until the retail counter/Post Office Box installation phase is complete, customers may pick up their mail at the designated door in the new facility and will be asked to provide government issued photo identification for security purposes.

“It was always our desire to restore service as soon as possible,” said Pueblo Postmaster Minnette Williams. “We recognize the inconvenience and apologize for the disruption.”

“I am so appreciative for everyone’s patience as we worked to restore our service,” said USPS Colorado/Wyoming Retail Manager Samantha Sears. “We all look forward to things returning to normal.”
