LOVELAND — USPS staff joined Loveland City of Commerce staff on Feb. 2 to kick off the 80th annual Loveland Valentine Remailing Program where volunteers applied caches and special pictorial cancellations to valentines sent from across the United States and around the world.
The 64th Miss Loveland Valentine Ellroy Anne Bauersfeld had the honor of applying the first cache to a valentine before a group of volunteers joined in. Loveland Mayor Patt McFall also made an appearance and applied several caches.
After receiving caches, the valentines were then given to USPS employees to receive a special pictorial cancellation. This year’s postmark featured an outline of a hear circling copy that read “Valentine Station February 14, 2026 Loveland, Colorado 80537 80 years”.
“This event is very special for Loveland, and I am proud to be here for its 80th year,” said Loveland Postmaster Chad Daniel who was at the event.
The Loveland Valentine Remailing Program is the largest of its kind in the nation where thousands of individuals throughout the world participate to receive the special pictorial cancellation. The Postal Service has recommended deadlines to help participants get their cards to their destinations by Valentines Day. The deadline for out-of-state mailpieces is Feb. 4 and in-state Feb. 9.
How to Participate
Those who wish to participate should first properly address and affix postage to their Valentines Day message/messages. Next, seal the message, or messages, in a larger envelope and address to:

The large envelope must also have adequate postage. Once received, volunteers will unseal the large envelopes and hand stamp each Valentine before sending to their final destination. Participants may also drop off their Valentines at select locations available on the Chamber of Commerce website.
