The Postal Service recommends reviewing the detailed guidelines for preparing passport applications, a list of the necessary supporting documents, and the current processing times at travel.state.gov. Appointments are not required but customers are encouraged to show up early, as applicants will be served on a first-come, first-served basis while time permits.

Passports take at a minimum 6 to 8 weeks to process so take advantage of these Post Office dates and times, whether it’s simply for obtaining official identification or getting ready for an across-the-border trip this summer or fall.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
