Darien, CT — On Friday, September 6, the Noroton Heights Post Office opened in a new, but temporary, facility until the Postal Service is able to finalize a more permanent post office building due to redevelopment at the Noroton Heights Shopping Center. 

Postal officials explain that starting Friday, full services will be available in provided by a postal trailer and a Post Office on Wheels that at 264 Heights Road.

Post office box holders have been provided a key and an access code for 24.7 access to box mail.  Parcel lockers are also in the trailer for larger items.  There are 252 box holders.

The Post Office on Wheels provides the full range of postal services to support your mailing, shipping and stamp purchasing requirements.  The Post Office on Wheels will be open weekdays from 9 am to 11 am and from noon until 4:30 pm. 

That unit will not be available on weekends. 

There is no timetable set for the Postal Service to open its new permanent location at this time.
