Postal Service honors Connecticut twice at PCC Leadership Award virtual event

HARTFORD, CT —Postal leadership and local mailing industry partners gathered earlier this week to honor innovation and celebrate excellence in the mailing industry for National Postal Customer Council Day.

Hosted virtually this year, the event brought together industry professionals and postal leadership to promote and share best mailing and shipping practices.

A highlight of the event each year is the PCC Leadership Awards, presented by the Postal Service. Top honors are presented to PCC groups that achieve overall excellence in their efforts to serve their communities.

Connecticut received national recognition in two categories:

  • Fairfield County, CT PCC — Bronze for Innovation of the Year.
  • Vivian LaRosa, of Manchester’s Allied Printing Services — Bronze for PCC Industry Member of the Year.

Postal Customer Council programs are all over the country and National PCC Day gives them the opportunity to connect and learn from each other. PCC members enjoy regular meetings, educational programs, mailer clinics, and seminars where they learn about the latest postal products and services.
The Executive Board of the Fairfield County Postal Customer Council meets at the Fairfield Post Office Annex at Commerce Drive in Fairfield on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, at 12 noon.

Speaking at the virtual National Postal Customer Council Day on Sept. 22, newly appointed Postmaster General Louis Dejoy said, “My vision is to establish the Postal Service as the preferred delivery service for the American public. I am committed to providing world-class affordable and dependable service to every American home and business six and seven days a week — today, tomorrow and for generations to come.” He told local business partners across the country that his goal is to build an organization that serves customers better and provides a platform for business growth.

Postmaster DeJoy said the future of the Postal Service will be defined by the following:

  • Universal access to the digital economy, with enhanced destination and storefront services across the nation;
  • The most professional, efficient, trusted and visible delivery services in the marketplace — driven by significantly greater operational precision;
  • A winning culture — one that champions employee advancement, engagement and collaboration; and celebrates diversity and inclusion;
  • Innovative, cost-effective platforms to power business customer growth; and
  • Greater revenue diversity, revenue growth and financial sustainability.

The Postmaster General’s full remarks are available in this video from the event.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
